Overview

A warm welcome and a cream tea await your arrival in our Grade II listed farmhouse, nestling in the delightful pre-Saxon/Celtic homestead, or 'hamlet' of Trecott. The thick walls of the part 16thC house are built of traditional Devon cob - a mixture of mud and straw and the house features oak beams, inglenook fireplaces, bread ovens and a cross-passage. Guests are welcome to use and enjoy the one acre evolving garden. This peaceful setting with a natural spring-fed pond is home to an abundance of wildlife including frogs and newts, house martins nesting under the eaves, tits, finches, nuthatches, woodpeckers, buzzards, tree-creepers, butterflies and slow worms. The hum of bees from our own hives fills the air on warm sunny days. Accommodation - maximum 6 persons, is arranged in 1 double en suite room, 1 family suite (1 double and 2 single + single room), 1 Twin room both with private bathrooms. All rooms are heated and equipped with tea/coffee-making facilities, hairdryer, radio/alarm. The guests lounge with colour TV, features a wood-burning stove and is equipped with books, games etc. Breakfast with local produce and our own free-range eggs is served in the dining room. No evening meal is provided but there are good eating establishments locally. Laundry facilities are available for guests use upon request. Children are welcome and a cot, highchair and playpen are available. Packed lunches are available on request. Honey and wax products are for sale. Sorry, no smoking and no pets. Cathedral city of Exeter is 20 miles away. Friendly shops and leisure facilities in Okehampton, 5 miles. Half mile from the picturesque and historic village of Sampford Courtenay, site of the Prayerbook Rebellion - 1549, 16thC pub within 0.5 mile. North Tawton 2 miles - grocers, post office, chemist, butcher, newsagent, fish and chips etc. Within easy reach of north and south Devon coasts. Convenient for walking on Dartmoor and Exmoor. Cyclists welcome - barn for storage and maintenance - situated on the Sticklepath cycle route leading to The Dartmoor Way. Public transport 1/2 mile.
