Wassail Queen,  Wassail King & Master of Ceremonie

Wassail is our traditional cider apple blessing celebration in Stoke Gabriel's community orchard and Church Walk. Folk music, morris dancing, story telling and the Mummers players will entertain the crowds before the Apple Blessing Ceremony within the orchard. Hot homemade food and drink available and a well stocked cider bar.

Programme:

4:30pm-5pm Gates open, Food and bar opens, Folk music play (in Old School Room)

5pm-5:20pm Newton Bushel Morris Dancers (in performance space in main road)

5.20pm Wassail Singers sing (in performance space whilst lanterns are lit)

5.45pm Lantern Procession & Wassail Ceremony - Lead by the Wassail Singers with Master of Ceremonies (Adam Lay), Wassail King (Ross Upton) and Queen (Grace Gadd).

6.15pm –ish Wassail Singers (under the porch at the entrance to the church) when the ceremony and procession finishes

6.30-7.30pm Folk music (in the Old School Room)

6.30-7.00pm Newton Bushel Morris Dancers (in performance space)

7.00-7.30pm Bovey Tracey Mummers Players (in performance space)

7.30-9.30pm Story telling with Clive Fairweather (in the Old School Room)

Barbeque, home-made pasties, soups and cakes, bar and mulled cider available from 4.30pm.
