Description

Training, events & news

The Dartmoor Partnership acts as the voice of Dartmoor. We will ensure that our members are kept abreast of any legislation or news that may affect your business and life on the moor.

We will provide information on the latest changes to the tourism industry and will provide statistics on visitor numbers and tourism figures to assist you in making informed decisions for the future.

We can offer you training and workshops, the opportunity to take part in events and exhibitions, and we provide networking opportunities that may help you make important contacts.

The Dartmoor Partnership has recently introduced an award scheme called Dartmoor First. It is about taking small steps towards being more environmental, sustainable and well, putting Dartmoor First. If you would like further information about the award, please visit our Dartmoor First page.

Energy Performance Certificates for self-catering businesses

An EPC is not required if a property is rented for less than 4 months a year; or if it is let under licence to occupy – regardless of the amount of time it is occupied.  A licence to occupy arrangement is where the holiday maker does not have exclusive use of the property, example the property owner or their representative has the right to access the premises during the period of the booking. For more information: http://www.communities.gov.uk/documents/planningandbuilding/pdf/18905871.pdf

To keep up-to-date with recent developments in this area, visit South West Tourism Alliance website. We would advise self catering businesses to work towards being energy efficient anyway and perhaps a way of doing that would be to keep a record of steps taken to improve energy performance. For example:

  • Type of lighting – x number of low energy bulbs
  • Type of heating – night storage, wood burner, oil fired central heating, lpg, etc
  • Type of appliances – A rated Fridge, AAA washing machine, B rated dishwasher, etc

This is not something official that you need to present to the Dartmoor Partnership upon inspection, it is simply something we believe may offer peace of mind and a step towards energy efficiency.
