Home / Accommodation on Dartmoor / Bowerland
Bowerland is a classic example of that fast-disappearing phenomenon – the Devonshire farm courtyard.
Known in 1254 as ‘Borland’, by 1578 (when it changed hands for £52-12-6!) it had become Bowerlande. The property has had a long and varied history; it is believed that it was used as a POW transit camp in the war – the Napoleonic War!
Today, Bowerland represents a traditional but fully modernised farmhouse, comfortable B&B facilities and two superbly renovated, luxurious holiday conversions, in the lovely peaceful country just beneath the drama of Dartmoor.
Superbly located, it offers a wealth of opportunities for touring, walking, riding, cycling, golf, tennis, a wide range of pub food and a choice of either coast, depending on whim and weather. As if that were not enough, we are in the centre of a choice selection of fishing locations for both salmon and trout.
But the real luxury is returning to the comfort of a beautifully appointed nest, to wallow in a hot bath, read, enjoy the amenities or simply enjoy the freedom of a self-catering break in the heart of Devon.
Bed and breakfast also available – details on request.
