Built by Duke of Bedford in c1857 as part of a model farm. Converted in c1988, retaining much original character.
On the edge of the hamlet of Ottery, originally part of Ottery farm which was established and built by the monks of Tavistock abbey in the 12th century on the site of an Anglo-Saxon settlement (c850).
Surrounded by rolling fields close to the Tamar valley an area of outstanding natural beauty, which has applied for World Heritage Site status. The Coach House is also on the edge of Dartmoor national park (a walkers paradise), 3 miles from Morwellham Quay; thought to be the biggest copper mine in the world in the 1850’s, now preserved as a living museum (full day out). We are close to 4 golf clubs including st. Mellion International, 45 mins drive from Eden Project and 90 mins from Landsend.
The Coach House was converted by its present owners in 1988 and adjacent buildings bought in 1997 to give a total of 12 bedrooms. There is a cosy bar and a restaurant (seats 50). Ample car parking, peace and quiet.

A390 Tavistock to Gunnislake road, right at Gulworthy Cross on the road signposted Chipshop. At the hamlet of Chipshop turn right and follow lane for 0.25 mile.
From Gunnislake - 4 miles
From Gunnislake station take A390 east towards Tavistock, about 3.5 miles along this road come to crossroads, turn left to village of Chipshop, then right to Ottery, first building.
