The Royal Oak, South Brent

Situated on the edge of Dartmoor in the traditional village of South Brent, the family run Royal Oak Inn offers a warm welcome to all visitors to the area. Completely refurbished in 2008 the Inn now offers five quality en-suite bedrooms, all finished to the same high standard, together with an air conditioned modern restaurant and first floor private dining room. The Inn still retains the local village pub atmosphere in the bar. A small covered courtyard is available to enjoy the fresh air. All the rooms have solid pine furniture and individual colour schemes. Two rooms have baths with showers over and two have walk in showers. The master suite has a shower bath. The plumbing has been fully updated to allow full water pressure to all rooms at the same time, no more standing under a dripping shower! Individual thermostats allow guests to have the rooms at their preferred temperature.  Modern digital televisions with superb picture quality from the digital aerial are in all rooms. The master suite benefits from a four poster bed and a two seater leather settee to watch the 37 inch television situated above the fireplace.  All rooms have new beds, mattresses and bedding in 2008, in fact everything was new in 2008!

South Brent is an unspoilt village on the edge of Dartmoor, just off the A38 and is a superb base to explore the South of Dartmoor. The Inn is situated in the centre of the village and is a perfect base for South Dartmoor and the South Hams.

Road Directions

From Exeter leave the A38 at Marley Head and from Plymouth leave the A38 at the Woodpecker junction, sign posted South Brent. Follow signs into the village centre right into Station Road. The inn is situated half way up on the left. Free village parking is the next left just past the inn.

Public Transport Directions

Coaches travel regularly from around the country into Exeter and Plymouth where local buses can be caught into South Brent. The X80 runs from Plymouth and the X38 runs from Exeter. There is not a train station at South Brent. The nearest stations are at Plymouth or Totnes. The X80 or a taxi can be caught from either station. Bus timetables vary depending on the time of year but usually at least hourly up to 8pm.
