A Moorland Guide during a guided walk on Dartmoor

Dartmoor National Park covers 368 square miles. The moor is a place of beauty, mystery, and diverse ecology, with a long history. Remains of settlements reach back to prehistoric times, and today it is still home to thousands of people who live and work here. It is in every respect a ‘living’ landscape, yet one that shares its ancient history with those who walk its paths and climb its tors.

The National Park Authority have handed over responsibility for the public guided walks programme to Moorland Guides. Moorland Guides is a small co-operative of guides who have, for some time, been working with the Dartmoor National Park Authority in providing and leading guided walks and also supporting the educational programme by guiding school groups.

There are a wide variety of walks available and, by listening to clients and customers, Moorland Guides provide a new and innovative programme of walks aimed at all abilities and groups. The guides are fully qualified, insured and trained, including first aid qualifications and CRB checks. Please visit the website for a detailed list of walks available and further information.
