A lovely 5-acre landscaped woodland and water garden with beautiful National Collections of birch and alder trees from all over the northern hemisphere. Particularly impressive during the winter months, when the colourful stems and trunks of the birch really stand out. Our trees vary in colour from ghostly white through creamy orange, soft pinks and reds, and even dark chocolate brown. The bark on many peels and rattles in the winter breeze. Over 1000 trees grouped in copses, providing an informal and peaceful setting. During the summer months, the garden hosts the annual Mythic Garden sculpture exhibition. From May to October we show imaginative artwork from over 40 artists in a wide range of media.
For those who fall in love with the trees, our nursery grows most of the rare and unusual trees to be found in the garden. Most are grown in open ground and are available November-April. Some trees are available in pots for summer planting.
