Beckaford Cottage

This cosy, centrally heated stone cottage is tucked into the hillside within beautiful Dartmoor National Park. There are numerous moorland walks straight from the door and stunning views across the valley. Famous Becky falls is just a mile away down the hill and can be heard tumbling over the rocks far below. the cottage is set within a small working farm (35 acres) with sheep (plus llama in attendance), cows and 2 horses who are resident in the stables opposite.

The cottage is well furnished, and very convenient for exploring this lovely part of Devon. In addition to the Dartmoor ponies and different varieties of cattle and sheep which graze on the moor, there are foxes, deer, badgers, buzzards and other wildlife in abundance. The moor is a blaze of colour in the late summer with purple heather and yellow gorse.

There is a small private garden with garden furniture and plenty of parking space at the end of its own driveway.

The cottage, which sleeps 5 is upside down to take advantage of the wonderful views. From a small hall, a wooden staircase leads to an open plan living area with fully fitted kitchen, with hand-made units. The living area itself, with sealed old floor boards and large rug has a sofa, armchairs, woodburner and dining table to seat 6.

Downstairs, there are two bedrooms, a double room with 4ft 6ins bedstead and fitted cupboard, and a family room with 3ft bedstead and 3ft bunk beds. There is also a full equipped bathroom.

Outside, across the courtyard, is a utility room with sink, washing machine, deepfreeze and pegs for wet weather clothes.
