Browns Hotel, Brasserie and Wine Bar – A fine place to dine out, to meet friends and share a drink.
Set against the backdrop of the majestic Dartmoor National Park in the ancient market town of Tavistock, this 17th Century Coaching Inn has recently been refashioned into a stylish brasserie and wine bar where pure English elegance mixes easily with the feel of a friendly country house.
Surrounded by the splendour of Devon’s fascinating landscape, Browns Hotel is superbly located in the centre of this historic town alongside a wealth of individual shops and the thriving pannier market offering stalls full of antiques and crafts, elegant foods, flowers and much more.
Lovingly restored, it has the utmost charm with comfortable armchairs and exposed brickwork. You will find an enchanting blend of the conventional and traditional throughout the property, and be charmed on arrival by the welcoming staff and warm atmosphere that are optimised by Brown’s.
Excellent cuisine can be enjoyed in the relaxed atmosphere of the Brassiere or Orangery. The team of Chefs serve a wonderful varied a la carte menu from locally sourced produce including fish, meat and vegetarian dishes. Organic and GM free foods are also available. Browns is highly regarded as the local destination for the ubiquitous English Sunday roast accompanied by good wine, professional friendly service and hospitality.
Still and sparkling water is bottled on the premises and drawn from the hotel’s well – positioned under a glass panel in the Orangery. The well is believed to date from Roman Times.
