courtenay house

Nestled in the town of Bovey Tracey on the edge of Dartmoor, you will find historic Courtenay House. Originally known as the “Misson House” and built in 1877, Courtenay House was a gift from Cannon Courtenay to the Clewer Sisters (the Sisters of Mercy) who ran the Mission for the “Wayward Girls” of the town.

Nowadays you will be pleased to know it is run as a comfortable Bed and Breakfast by the owner, Tina Richardson, who has created a homely atmosphere full of period charm. The bedrooms have been furnished for comfort and relaxation. All rooms have a colour television plus tea and coffee making facilities.

Breakfast is provided downstairs in the charming Tea Room (known locally as Pinks Place) with its old lace tablecloths and tableware. Breakfast extends from full English to Continental or just simply your choice.

All the meals and desserts are freshly prepared by Tina herself using local produce wherever possible. Sunday lunches are a particular speciality and prove to be very successful with visitors and locals alike.

You can be sure that when you stay at the Courtenay House, Tina will make you welcome within this warm and friendly setting.

Also attached to the house is the Antique Centre which is open 6 days a week from 9.00am to 4.00pm and in the summer season until 5.00pm. You will find a varied and interesting selection of curios. The Centre also houses Victorian and Edwardian furniture, silver, jewellery and a vast selection of collectables can also be found at Courtenay House - everything for those who like to browse.
