Self-catering holiday accommodation of a high standard for those looking for the peace and quiet of a Devon retreat in the beautiful village of Mary Tavy, an old mining village famous for its lead, tin, silver and iron ore mines. Wheal Betsy engine house, restored by the National Trust is visible as you enter the village. Mary Tavy is in a Conservation Area within the Dartmoor National Park and has easy access to the wild and beautiful Dartmoor wilderness, with the rocky outcrops of Great Staple Tor and Gibbet Hill (notable landmarks) within easy walking distance. From these there are majestic views of North Cornwall to the South and an expansive panorama of the Dartmoor North Moor. The village is also ideally suited for accessing many areas of outstanding beauty within Devon and North Cornwall with the coast less than an hour away.

Kent Barn is a converted stable block set adjacent to Kent House where the owners are close to hand to ensure your stay is comfortable and trouble free. Kent House a grade 2 listed historic building established by Captain Kent as the headquarters of his local mining enterprises. Kent Barn consists of two ground floor en-suite bedrooms, one double, and the other with twin beds. Both bathroom and shower room are fitted to luxurious standards. Towels and bedding is included. Upstairs comprises of an open plan sitting room with a log burner, exposed wooden beams and kitchen diner. The modern kitchen is fully equipped with oven, hob, dishwasher, fridge and freezer. The lounge has views to fields/ farmland and also across the wooded valley to nearby Cholwell Brook. Kent Barn also has full central heating.
Parking is available on the driveway for 2 cars.

Although Kent Barn is fully equipped for all your self-catering needs Mary Tavy boasts 2 pubs providing good food at reasonable prices and a post office/village store as well as local riding stable. There are also two further pubs with high gastronomic standards at Peter Tavy (along the N27 National Cycleway) and the "Elephants Nest" at Horndon 2 miles away

7 K East of the village you will discover the ancient Stannary Town of Tavistock believed to be the birth place of Sir Francis Drake where a range of high quality independent shops can meet your every need. The Town also boasts an extensive pannier market, arts centre/cinema, a swimming pool and bi-weekly farmers market. Various festivals are held throughout the year in the town.
