Merrifield House is ideally located for exploring the delights of both Dartmoor and wonderful South Devon. The area is unsurpassed for walkers and mountain bikers with the unspoilt expanse of Dartmoor providing endless opportunities for all abilities. The beautiful South Devon Coast is also easily accessible with its safe sandy beaches and coastal path offering another alternative. Canoeists, too, can enjoy the picturesque River Dart or the fantastic Lyme Bay Coast. The climate of the English Riviera is known for its mild winters and sunny summers
The River Dart, one of the most beautiful rivers in the Country, is a short drive, offering tranquil boat cruises between the towns of Dartmouth and Totnes, both well worth exploring. There are many National Trust properties locally, including the recently renovated Greenway House, home to Agatha Christie as well as the Abbey at Buckfast, famous for its honey and mead.
Other visitor attractions include Paignton Zoo, Kents Cavern, Woodlands Leisure Park, Pennywell Farm and a choice of 2 local Steam Train journeys. These are but a few examples of the vast choice of places for all ages and interests.
