The ‘Goods Shed’, (original railway shed converted into a modern YHA accommodation centre), boasts accommodation for 120 people in 26 bunkrooms sleeping 2,4 or 6 people. Some en-suite rooms with games room, lounge, dinning room and spacious grounds.

* The Good Shed is also the home of Adventure Okehampton, an outdoor activity centre. The main Activity office is usually manned Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm, during the winter (closed on Bank Holidays).
During the Peak Season we offer all day access to The Goods Shed, where reception is normally manned 8.00am to 8.00pm in the peak season. In the Low Season, bookings should be made for accommodation which is normally available 1st February to 30th November 2012.

Road Directions

Just off the A30 at either south or north entry to Okehampton town, follow the signs for Okehampton town centre. The centre is signposted from the entrance to the town, so follow the Tourist Information signs (Brown) signs to the Youth Hostel which is opposite Okehampton Railway Station.

Beware when using the postcode, EX20 1EW, as occasionally some Sat-Navs do not take you the correct way into Okehampton

To check in at Adventure Okehampton, go to the Youth Hostel reception, which is usally open 08.30 to 20.00 (April to October) 09.00 to 17.00 (November to March: Monday to Friday).

From the East

Leave the A30 at Okehampton (B3260) junction, and turn right at the end of the slip road. Follow this road for a further 2 miles into Okehampton town centre. In the town centre, you will pass over straight over two sets of traffic lights. In the town centre, pass a set of traffic lights (Pelican Crossing) and at the next set of traffic lights turn left, following the signs to Okehampton Station and Youth Hostel. About 200m, take the 3rd turning right up Station Road, and after about 400m turn left at the monument following signs to the Station. Follow this road, passing under the railway bridge and take the first left to enter the Youth Hostel, where the car park is behind The Goods Shed.

From the West

Leave the A30 at Okehampton (B3260) junction, and follow road for about 2 miles into the town. At the first set of traffic lights, on a crossroads junction, turn right following the signs to Okehampton Station and Youth Hostel. After 200m, take the 3rd turning right up Station Road, and after about 400 m turn left at the monument following signs to the Station. Follow this road, passing under the railway bridge and take the first left to enter the Youth Hostel, where the Hostel car park is behind The Goods Shed.

Public Transport Directions

The centre is based on edge of Okehampton, about 26 miles SW of Exeter St Davids (the closest mainland railway station). The town is served by several bus services, originating at Exeter Bus Station, and most stop at Exeter St Davids. There are also services to: Bude, Tavistock, Plymouth.

On Sunday during the summer season, there are additional bus services from Okehampton Station, which can be combined to do a 'round Dartmoor' route.

During June, July and August, there is a Sunday only train service from Okehampton Station to Exeter (Exeter St Davids, Exeter Central) that operates 3-4 times a day.
