The Sea Trout Inn and sign

The Sea Trout Inn – an atmospheric Devon pub situated in the picturesque village of Staverton on the fringe of Dartmoor. An idyllic, traditional inn that dates back, in part, to the 15th century.

Recently refurbished to offer 10 luxury en-suite rooms, it has a locals bar, a conservatory restaurant and a general bar area where customers are welcome to eat or drink (or both!).

The menu changes with the seasons and vegetarian dishes are always available, just ask. Much of the produce is sourced locally from suppliers and farms, and there’s an extensive wine list to choose from.

Samantha and Jason Price, the current owners, took the inn over in July 2008 and have worked tirelessly since then to bring it up to its present standard. The attention to detail in the letting rooms is worthy of an award, with cleverly blended interiors and quality fittings. A short walk away is Staverton station, part of the South Devon Railway, an organisation run by volunteers dedicated to keeping the steam railway between Buckfastleigh and Totnes running.

The Sea Trout Inn is also within easy distance of Riverford Farm, Dartington Hall, Dartington Cider Press Centre and Totnes town, to name but a few of the local attractions. Just a short drive from the A38, it’s a perfect stop-over if you’re en-route to either Plymouth or Exeter – or just want to get away from it all and enjoy great British modern cuisine in a relaxed and hospitable environment.

Dogs are welcome in the bar area, and some rooms, so if you’re an avid walker, then this is the place for you.
